N°47 Purifying Mask
Russian noblewomen of the 18th century rarely appeared in public without makeup, as bare skin was seen as improper. However, their cosmetics often contained lead and other harmful impurities.
Skincare experts of the time recognised the risks but knew their clientele would not abandon these beauty practices. To counteract the effects, they developed evening cleansing rituals to remove heavy makeup. A specialised cleanser became essential, ensuring the skin was properly cared for.
First developed in the early 19th century, this soap-based mask remains just as effective today, deeply cleansing while respecting the skin's balance. While profoundly cleansing, the formula preserves the skin's natural lipid barrier for lasting comfort.
This time-honoured mask deeply purifies, leaving the skin feeling smooth, even, and refreshed. Infused with precious plant camphor, a revered beauty ingredient, it enhances the cleansing experience.
European noblewomen of the 18th century could not do without whitewash, powder and
blush, as going out with a bare face would be a sign of disrespect. But cosmetics of that era were dangerous—they contained lead and other harmful impurities. The healers of that era were aware of the dangers of these products, but they could not dissuade their fashionable clientele. Therefore, they drew up a skin care manual which included an obligatory
step: a deep cleanse of the ladies’ formal makeup as part of the evening ritual. This made a special product for deep daily skin cleansing essential.
